This is a German Army issue pickaxe head, missing its original wooden handle. The head is in relic but solid condition it is not crumbling or breaking apart and has been carefully cleaned, making it ideal for display or any collection.
The axe head was recovered from a field near Trun, believed to be a pit dug by the Allies where large amounts of German equipment were discarded and buried following the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, Normandy, France, in 1944. A rare and interesting relic from the famous Normandy battlefield.
