This is a German Army engineers carry case, a large tin measuring approximately 14 inches by 13 inches. Its exact original contents are unknown, but it is maker marked and dated 1936.
The case is largely complete and in nice relic condition, showing only light rust and retaining much of its original red paintwork both inside and out. It remains solid, though the lid has some rust holes. The hinge works, allowing the lid to open and close, but it does not lock properly. The carry handle is still present but rusted solid. Inside, some brackets remain, and the back features bolts, suggesting it was mounted to something, possibly a vehicle.
A very solid and unusual relic, nicely cleaned and ideal for display or any collection. The tin was recovered near the village of Plota, south of Prokhorovka, the site of the main tank battle on 12th July 1943 in Russia.
