This is a German 8cm Mortar shell carry case, base half only, missing its lid. The relic is in solid condition, showing some remnants of white stamped maker markings on the exterior and minimal rust damage or holes. The box half is nearly complete, with only minor rust and wear, and retains much of its original black paint inside. The bomb-holding brackets remain intact, and the carry handle is still present. The case has been carefully cleaned and is ideal for display, making it a nice battlefield find.

The box was recovered from a field near Trun, believed to be a pit dug by Allied forces where large amounts of German equipment were discarded and buried after the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, Normandy, 1944.
