              German 5cm steel shell case dated 1944 fired by 5cm PAK 38 anti-tank gun recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45
This is a rare to find dated shell case German 5cm steel shell case dated 1944 fired by 5cm PAK 38 anti-tank gun used in the Panzer Lehr Division. The shell case is steel made it is damage partly around the neck from being fired it is in relic but solid condition the rare bit it has some of its maker markings that can be seen on the bottom including the date 1944 it has a few rust holes but nothing bad and still has some original brass wash colour a far bit in places it has been very well cleaned it is perfect to display or any collection. It is empty and inert and has been very well preserved by the silt in the lake bed. The shell case would have been used in the Panzer Lehr Division as it was recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45.
The shell case comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards.
The shell case was recovered from a lake which was used as a dump site for battlefield clearance the area where the lake is, was attacked by the German 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division they had the only anti-tank ans ant-aircraft gun units in the area.
