This is a German 10cm artillery gun shell powder charge bag which is dated 10th September 1943 and fired by 10cm Schwere Kanone 18 artillery gun with its markings clear to see.
The silk bag section has some rust on it from the shell case it is in nice condition for relic the silk is solid not braking up or falling apart it still retains some of its original colour but it is dirty and stained from being buried inside the case it is a nice size at 3 inches by 3 inches. It has been very nicely cleaned and in nice solid condition perfect for a collection or any display.The bag was inside a shell that was recovered from near the village of Trun in the Falaise Pocket, Normandy in 1944.The bag comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with map.
The bag was recovered from a field near Trun, believed to be a pit dug by the Allies where large amounts of German equipment were discarded and buried following the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, Normandy, France, in 1944. A rare and interesting relic from the famous Normandy battlefield.
