Nice clean aluminium airframe section from American B17 flying fortress number 41-24432 named Danellen shot down on 20 December 1942 in Normandy
This is a lovely condition aluminium airframe section which is a nice clean panel . The part which still retains its lovely original colour and is in relic condition overall lovely condition it has ripped off by the impact of the crash it is in relic but solid condition and have been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and is 8 inches long and 5 inches wide in size. The part comes from American B17 flying fortress number 41-24432 named Danellen which was on a raid over France on the 20 December 1942.The parts come with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.

B-17 Danellen was with Squadron 401, 91st Bomb Group (H) the plane was on its 11th mission, its third consecutive targeted at Romilly sur Seine Airfield & Aircraft Pool. Seventeen aircraft were dispatched. The Group encountered some flak and attacks by enemy aircraft fiercer than on any previous mission. Before reaching the target, Danellen was shot down by fighters, mostly Focke-Wulf 190s. It was seen spinning out of control at 3000 feet, with smoke pouring from between engines number 3 and 4.
