French Soldier 1877 Pattern 2-Litre Water Bottle – Verdun Battlefield Relic (WWI)
A nice and increasingly hard-to-find French Army 1877 pattern 2-litre water bottle, issued to soldiers during the First World War.
Condition
The bottle retains much of its original late-war green paintwork, still clearly visible across the surface. It remains structurally solid and is not breaking apart or deteriorating.
There is light surface rust consistent with age and battlefield recovery, but no heavy corrosion or perforation. The surface remains relatively smooth to the touch. The item has been carefully cleaned and presents very well, making it ideal for display or any collection.
Provenance
Recovered many years ago from the Verdun battlefield (1916–1918), France, one of the most significant and heavily contested areas of the First World War.
Additional Information
Supplied with 1 x A5 laminated information card.
