This is a fantastic condition German soldiers M35 steel helmet captured and re used by French resistance fighter with black and red stripe over painted on it by the fighter themselves.
The helmet is not relic, and has only some very light surface rust in places. No rust holes or damage. It is a lovely and solid helmet retaining most of its original colours. It has been cleaned well and is not breaking up or falling apart.
The helmet has most of its original green paintwork with decal. This has been over painted with the stripes. On the inside of the helmet it has maker markings and stamps clear to see. It has a complete leather liner attached, and ring. It does have chin strap holders but no chin strap.
This is a very rare helmet and perfect for display or any collection.
The helmet was bought at a fair in Normandy during the anniversary celebrations in the early 2000’s. The helmet was used in the local area during the war by a resistance fighter in the battles of 1944 against the German Army.
The helmet comes with 2xA5 laminated information sheets with pictures.
