This is a very rare, fantastic condition very large aluminium panel with white stamped maker markings and most of its original paintwork and is one of the undercarriage wheel well covers which went up and down with the leg as it was moved in to position.
The panel which looks pretty much complete and does retain all its original colours and most of its original black and green paintwork the gray internal paint on the inside of it and the aluminium is still its shiny colour not discoloured very much. The part is only slightly damaged by the impact of a crash it just has a few scrapes, dents and knocks and a little bit of discolour but nothing bad it is in nice solid condition the part has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or very rare and hard to find one for any collection the part is very large at 20 inches long and 9 inches wide. This is very rare to get a near undamaged panel in this condition from a crashed aircraft. The panel is from German Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 "Sigrid" ("White 11") of 9/JG 5, shot down attacking Allied Convoy in Norway on 7th April 1945

Unteroffizier Walter Opitz was a Luftwaffe pilot with the Arctic fighter unit 9./JG 5 who was Killed in Action on 7 April 1945 during a dogfight with Allied P-51 Mustangs over Norway. While flying his Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 "Sigrid" ("White 11"), his aircraft crashed at Myrketjørna, Leisvik, and he was later laid to rest at the Solheim Cemetery in Bergen. Prior to his death, Opitz was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and had scored one aerial victory during the famous "Black Friday" air battle on 9 February 1945.
