Engine piston sleeve half with part number lovely conditionfrom inside Junkers Jumo 211 engine recovered near Selsey Bill from German Ju87b-1 stuka dive bomber of 3/stG2 shot down 16th August 1940
This is an engine piston sleeve half which has been cut down the middle from inside Junkers Jumo 211 engine.The sleeve does not have any damage from the impact of the crash but was well protected by the engine still with clear to see part numbers and shiny original colour it is lovely condition from being in the English channel for 30 odd years.The sleeve still retains its original colour it has some light surface rust in places but not to badly it is still very solid not braking up at all and has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. The sleeve comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards and is from inside Junkers Jumo 211 engine that was recovered by fisherman in 1970’s from the English Channel near Selsey Bill and is believed to be from
German Ju87b-1 stuka dive bomber of 3/stG2 which was shot down at 1.00pm on the 16th August 1940 during the Battle of Britain. The plane crashed into the sea west of Selsey Bill it was shot down by RAF Hurricanes of Number 43 Squadron and 601 Squadron. The crew Unteroffizier P.Bohn and Obergefreiter J.Bader both were picked up by Royal Navy launch and captured.
