Engine part which is a large bakerite electrical box cover with maker markings from American B17 flying fortress number 41-24432 named Danellen shot down on 20 December 1942 in Normandy
This is a nice engine part which is a large bakerite electrical box cover which is fairly undamaged from the crash it still retains its original brown colour and pretty much all of its original colours it has been very well cleaned it is perfect for display or any collection the part is 8 inches long in size. The engine cover is from American B17 flying fortress number 41-24432 named Danellen which was on a raid over France on the 20 December 1942. The part comes with a A5 laminated information card with pictures.

B-17 Danellen was with Squadron 401, 91st Bomb Group (H) the plane was on its 11th mission, its third consecutive targeted at Romilly sur Seine Airfield & Aircraft Pool. Seventeen aircraft were dispatched. The Group encountered some flak and attacks by enemy aircraft fiercer than on any previous mission. Before reaching the target, Danellen was shot down by fighters, mostly Focke-Wulf 190s. It was seen spinning out of control at 3000 feet, with smoke pouring from between engines number 3 and 4.
