This is a lovely recognisable tank part a complete Engine compartment inspection/access cover associated with the cooling system or transmission.
The cover which is 4 bolt hole has battle damage from when the tank was destroyed with clear impact hole also ripped and bent it is in relic but solid condition it is rusty but does still have some original paintwork it has been carefully cleaned, making it ideal for display or any military collection.The cover is 10 inches wide and comes from the site of a destroyed Russian IS-2 Josef Stalin tank with the 1st Guards tank Army which was North of the Town of Seelow itself which they captured with infantry support on the 17th April 1945 during Seelow Heights offensive.The cover comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures and diagrams.
Seelow (Town) was captured on April 17 with the 8th Guards Army infantry doing the heavy urban clearing, Katukov’s tanks of 1st Guards army flanked the town to the north and south, helping to break German resistance and secure the town by early afternoon
