Complete unfired British 18 pounder shrapnel shell which is dated 1917 on the case found on The Somme battlefield of 1916-1918
This is a nice find from the battlefield and rare to find a complete unfired example a British 18 pounder shrapnel shell.The projectile still has its brass driving band in place its nice brass colour the outer case is pitted and discolored but has some original black paint remains but with no holes or damage the fuse which is its shiny brass colour and screws in and out of the projectile perfectly with some of its maker markings that can be seen and screws in and out perfectly. The brass shell case is its nice brass shiny colour but with some discolored and all of its markings and dated July 1917 the projectile and case is completely empty and inert it has been well cleaned and overall perfect condition for display and very rare one for any collection being unfired. The shell was found on The Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 and comes with an A5 laminated information card.
