This is a complete German 3.7cm Flak shell carry case, notable for still retaining most of its internal racking, including the wooden components, which are largely intact and solid. The box has a broken hinge, so the two halves no longer connect, but they still sit together nicely. The carry case is in solid condition, showing some rust and rust holes, but it retains its original carry handle and has been well cleaned. Small traces of the original paint remain, though no markings are visible. A relic in excellent structural condition, it is not breaking apart and is perfect for display or any collection.

Provenance: the case was used by the 12th SS Panzer Division and recovered in 2007 from the surface of the woods in the Ardennes Forest near the village of Krinkelt, which the division attacked on 17-18 December during the Battle of the Bulge (Winter 1944-1945). The item comes with 2 x A5 laminated information sheets.

During the night of 17-18 December, tanks from the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitler Youth (after being freed from the mud) broke through the U.S. lines and pushed into Krinkelt, only to be expelled by a rapid counterattack. In the first three days of fighting at Krinkelt and Rocherath, the 12th SS lost 67 of its 136 tanks. The combat was intense, and due to reports that the SS were executing captives, few prisoners were taken by either side.
