This is a rare complete track link pin from a Ostkette track link which is 48cm long with the retaining pin hole at one end and straight as well which is so rare to get from one of these very hard to find track links.The pin is in relic but solid condition it is rusty with minimal damage and has been carefully cleaned, making it ideal for display or any military collection. The track pin was used by German Jagdpanzer 4 of Panzer-Division Müncheberg. The pin was recovered from the site of a destroyed one in the Werbig area on the Seelow heights which is the area defended by them in April 1945 battle.The pin comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with diagram and map.
A track pin that measures exactly 48 cm long and came off a Panzer IV chassis, it would have belonged to a vehicle equipped with Ostketten (East Tracks) and on the Seelow heights there was 2 of them in this panzer Division one was destroyed around Werbig. Faced with the brutal mud of the Russian front, Germany created wider track links that extended outward to give the tank a larger footprint. These wider setups utilized the exact same 20 mm thickness but required an extended 48 cm pin to pass through the widened cast links.
