This is a Carburettor part from inside the Daimler-Benz DB601 engine on German Messerschmitt Bf 109 shot down battle of Britain.
The part has been well cleaned and retains much of its original coloration and has a number stamped inside it. The Messerschmitt 109 was shot down by RAF Spitfires over Lenham, Kent by Flight Officer Mungo Park of No. 74 Squadron. The fighter crashed at Chapel Farm, Lenham Heath, Kent. The pilot Franz Maierl was seen to bail from his stricken plane, with his chute on fire unfortunately he died and is buried in the cemetery at Lenham.
