Very rare British rifle grenade number 24 Mark 1, June 1917 pattern recovered in Polygon wood from the September 1917 battle part of the third battle of Ypres in Belgium on the Western front
This is a very rare find from the battlefield, British rifle grenade number 24 Mark 1 which is the June 1917 pattern which is in 2 parts the top section of outer case is broken off from the rest of it but fits back on nicely.The grenade which is a complete outer case and it is empty and inert with its brass fitting fuse which is maker marked. This is a nice example of this rifle grenade with original yellow paintwork and red stripe which has been very well cleaned up it is rusty on the actual rod but with no real damage other then the stated brake with no holes or bits missing the grenade is 16 half inches long it is perfect for display or any collection and not the easiest of finds from the battlefield these days now.
