Lovely condition British military lubricating oil bottle[oiler] dated 1940 found in the town of Cassel in the Dunkirk pocket of May 1940, part of the perimeter around the port

This is a not relic condition but lovely British military lubricating oil bottle[oiler] not sure what exactley it used on but given its size either a large calibre gun or equipment part The bottle is 6 inches long still its lovely black painted aluminium colour amd on the bottom it is maker marked and dated 1940 still fairly clear to see.The bottle does still open and close both ends unscrew it does have some very light surface rust in places on the inside is its original chain and still has some remains of the oil inside it is solid and is a nice condition which is perfect for display or any collection.The bottle was found in the town of Cassel from the Dunkirk pocket of the 27th until 30th of May 1940, part of the perimeter around the port during the evacuation of May-June 1940.The clip comes with 2 x A5 laminated information cards with pictures and map.

In May 1940 during the battle of France the 2nd Battalion, Gloucestershire and the 4th Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry held Cassel for three days as part of the defensive screen around Dunkirk during the Battle of Dunkirk and evacuation from the 27 May 1940 to the 30 May 1940.
