British mark 1 60 pounder shrapnel shell projectile nose section+Number 83-time fuse dated 1918,fired by heavy long range field gun,recovered from near village of Chipilly the battle of Amiens 1918

This is a very nice condition battlefield find which is a British mark 1 60 pounder shrapnel shell projectile nose section with a Number 83-time fuse.The projectile nose cone is in very good condition and retains most of its original markings including the date March 1918 and its original brass finish which has been very well cleaned and with some very light damage from impact of being fired and the steel nose cone has been ripped away from the shell body after being fired.The projectile which is empty and inert and has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. The projectile was recovered from near the village of Chipilly on the battle of Amiens August 1918 battlefield.The projectile comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures and map

British No 83 is a shrapnel, time and percussion fuse which was introduced in 1911 and was only used on 60 pounder shell projectiles and was usually used with the shrapnel projectiles. The fuses were made by Vickers Armament Industries, who manufactured these fuses between 1914 and 1918.
