Brake pad from undercarriage wheel from American B17G Flying Fortress 43-37516 'Tondalayo', matt black finished special operations aircraft in 406th Night Leaflet Squadron,crashed 4th March 1945

This is a very unusual part to find from inside a undercarriage wheel which is rusty.but solid with no paintwork and rare to get a recognizable part from the undercarriage of this famous bomber. The part is in relic condition overall solid condition it has ripped off by the impact of the crash it has been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and is 3 inches long and 3 inches wide in size. The part comes from American B17G Flying Fortress 43-37516 'Tondalayo' was an overall matt black finished special operations aircraft attached to the 406th Night Leaflet Squadron based at Cheddington. This B17 bomber was the personal aircraft of the unit's commander, Lieutenant Colonel Aber and being retained by him when the squadron converted to B-24 Liberators.Lieutenant Colonel Aber was on his 51st mission when he was shot down on the 4th March 1945 by friendly fire. The part comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures of the actual bomber.
