This is a blown apart section of 10mm armoured plate from floor armour underneath a American Sherman. The armour section has some weld remains at one end it is in relic but solid condition it does have some original white paintwork remains left it is rusty but solid and has been very well cleaned up the part has ripped apart and is 14 inches long by 4 inches wide and perfect for display or any collection. The armour section was recovered from the site of a destroyed Sherman tank in the 10th armoured division in the area of the Longvilly road near Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in 1944-45.
The plate comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards.
The battle took place on the 19th December 1944 when an American force under Colonel Cherry came under attack by German Panzer Lehr Division along the road between Longvilly and Bastogne the Americans lost around 200 vehicles in the battle.
