Battle damaged French M26 Adrian helmet worn by soldier of the 68th Infantry Division that was recovered near Dunkirk the 1940 pocket permeator
This is a battle damaged French M26 Adrian helmet worn by soldier of the 68th Infantry Division. The helmet is relic and rusty with some rust holes, but mostly battle damaged ripped and bent up with impact damage from an explosion. The helmet is still very solid not braking up or falling apart. The helmet has no real paintwork left or original colours and has been very well cleaned and as is a rare one to get a battlefield recovered French helmet from Dunkirk it is perfect for display or any collection. The helmet was recovered in Craywick, a village west of Dunkirk town itself defended by them during the Dunkirk pocket. This was a battle part of the perimeter around the port stopping the German advance during the evacuation of May-June 1940. The helmet comes with 2xA5 laminated information sheets with pictures.
The 68th Infantry Division was formed on the 16th January 1940 in Dunkirk. It fought Campaigns at the Battle of the Scheldt Estuary and Battle of the North. The Division was part of perimeter defence of Dunkirk and captured at Dunkirk on 4th June 1940. Its final command post at Dunkirk. Subordination: XVI Corps of the Admiral-North
