This is an American aerial bomb fuse pocket from a large bomb, empty and inert. The pocket was ripped off during being dropped and has impact marks and shows some damage, including a section missing from its centre, but remains solid. It is rusty yet in very nice condition, with no original markings, and has been very well cleaned. A rare and interesting piece, perfect for display or any collection.
The bomb would have been dropped on the Siegfried Line near Aachen, where this part was recovered. The Siegfried Line, also known as the German West Wall, saw heavy action during 1944-1945.
