Aluminium airframe section and electrical plug connector both nice condition from American B-24 Liberator bomber number 44-40210 shot down on the 18th September 1944 in Netherlands, market garden

This is a aluminium airframe section still with near all of its original black camouflage paintwork and electrical plug connector from one of the engines the parts which have ripped, bent and a bit smashed by the impact of the crash they are in nice solid condition and have been very nicely cleaned and have a lot of their original colours and are perfect for display or any collection the part is 2-6 inches long in size. The parts come from American B-24 Liberator bomber number 44-40210 of the 491st Bombardment Group H of 854th Squadron which was shot down on the 18th September 1944 during operation market garden in the Netherlands. The part comes with 2 x A5 laminated information sheets.

This B-24J was leading a formation of B-24 bombers on their journey back to England after successfully dropping supplies. over the drop-zones at Eindhoven for Operation Market-Garden. When at 16:34 hrs the formation of aircraft came over the village Oisterwijk all hell broke lose when German anti-aircraft guns came in to action shooting at the over passing bombers. The aircraft that slowly flew in formation at a height of approximately one hundered meters were easy targets for the German anti-aircraft guns. The B-24J piloted by Capt. James "Jim" K. Hunter was hit in the right wing on which immediately a small fire started. The Liberator piloted by Capt. Hunter now with one wing on fire slowly fell out of formation to the right followed by a trail of thick black smoke.
