This is a nice section of airframe from this most very famous of Russian aircraft .
This is a nice size steel maker plate with clear to see markings. Still attached to an aluminium airframe section with some of its original green paintwork fairly clear to see. It still retains a lot of original colour. It has ripped and bent by the impact of the crash. It is in lovely clean condition and is perfect for display or any collection. It is 12 inches long and 2 inches wide.
The airframe structure part was recovered from Russian il-2 Sturmovik ground attack aircraft of the 5th Guards Army which was shot down and crashed in the area of the Psel River, south of Kursk on the Voronezh front. This area was defended by them against the German 2nd SS Panzer corps during the battle part of Operation Citadel the German Kursk offensive in July-August 1943 in Russia. The part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures.
