Airframe sections from engine case with heat proof sacking attached from German Messerschmitt 110 work number 3338,pilot Hauptmann Walter Rubensdorffer shot down 15th Augfust 1940,Battle of Britain
This is a unusual pair of aluminium airframe sections from the engine case still with heat proof sacking attached which insulated the engine heat from the airframe. Both of them have no real paintwork remains looks like its been burnt off by heat either from the engine being used or fire from the crash when the aircraft was shot down.The parts which are very unusual to find still with this sacking attached they have been nicely cleaned and have ripped and bent by the impact of the crash and are perfect for display or any collection the parts are 6- 7 inches long. The parts are from German Messerschmitt 110 work number 3338, unit ErprGr 210 the pilot was Luftwaffe high command officer Hauptmann Walter Rubensdorffer he was shot down, 15th August 1940 during the battle of Britain.The parts come with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures of the pilots.
Walter Rubensdorffer was leading an attack on Kenley Airport when his plane was shot down and crashed at Bletchinglye Farm,Catts Hill Rotherfield. The co-pilot Oberleutnant L.Kretzer was killed along with Hauptmann Rubensdorffer he was a key leader in the Luftwaffe high command; he had destroyed over 370 ground targets during action in Poland and France.
