Airframe section and engine case from German Messerschmitt Bf109e 1/JG51, work number 4850, shot down by RAF Spitfire flown by Squadron Leader J.A. Leathart on 2nd September 1940,battle of Britain
This is a solid aluminium airframe structure section and section of mag allow engine case with steel screw in plug both with some original colour and a bit of original black paintwork and are nice size pair of parts .The parts are in nice condition they have ripped and bent by the impact crash and are in relic but solid condition and have been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and are 4-6 inches long in size. The parts come from German Messerschmitt Bf109e 1/JG51, work number 4850 which was shot down by RAF Spitfire flown by Squadron Leader J.A. Leathart of 54 Squadron at 8.00am on 2nd September 1940 during the battle of Britain.
The Messerschmitt crashed at at South Poston, near Leeds Castle, Maidstone. The pilot was Leutnant H. Thorl, who bald out and was captured unhurt. This part was recovered in 1970’s by the London Aeronautical Museum.
The parts come with 2xA5 laminated information cards with picture of Spitfire pilot.
