Complete airframe connector strut from Heinkel HE 177 heavy bomber recovered from old airfield at Voroponovo which was in the 6th Army pocket during the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942-1943
This is a complete airframe connector strut from Heinkel HE 177 heavy bomber which crash landed near the German airfield at Voroponovo which was in the 6th Army pocket during the Battle of Starlingrad in 1942-1943. The strut is in lovely condition not relic still with all its original colours and no real rust or damage and is perfect for display or any collection it was 15 inches long.The parts was recovered from the wreck of an abandoned Heinkel HE 177 heavy bomber, which is near the old German airfield at Voroponovo which was in the 6th Army pocket during the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942-1943. The part comes with A5 laminated information sheet.
After the 6th army was in circled the Germans hurriedly prepared the Tatsinskaya airfields (capacity of up to 600 Ju 5000 and Ju86 aircraft - 11 groups) and Morozovsk (capacity of up to 400 aircraft) as the main supply bases for encircled troops, and Chernyshkovsky, Kotelnikovo, Zimovniki and Salsk aerodromes as auxiliary. Inside the encirclement ring for the reception of transport aircraft, the German command used 5 airfields (B.Rososhka, Basargino, Kennel, Gumrak, Voroponovo), which had up to 20 Bf 109 fighters raised for the transport crews.
