This is a rare and very reganisable part from the battle of Britain and its most famous fighter plane.This is a aircraft trim/control gearbox mechanism (geared control unit) from inside the cockpit wall.

This control unit which is brass made with large gear still attached it has some damage from the crash bent up slightly but nothing to bad it still has all of its brass original colour it has not discoloured very much it has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection the size of the part is 5 half inches long by 4 inches wide.The part is from RAF Spitfire number N3109 which was shot down at 10.45am on 7th October 1940 during the battle of Britain.The part comes with 2x A5 laminated information sheets with picture of the pilot.

The pilot F/O H.K.F Matthews aged 28 was killed his spitfire of 603 squadron was in combat with Messerschmitt BF109’S of II/JG26 the plane was shot down and crashed at Hurst Farm Godersham Park.
